Fillings are recommended for treating teeth with dental decay. Fillings are also recommended for teeth that have been cracked or damaged, or to replace an existing filling that is damaged or old.
What types of fillings do we use?
Bonded fillings are used at Hollinger Dental. They are made of a composite resin that is similar in colour to a patient's tooth. We use this material so that it blends naturally with the patient's smile.
How does the fillings procedure work?
First your dentist identifies and removes the decay in your teeth.
After that a bonding solution will be applied to the area before adding the composite filling material.
A high-intensity blue light is used to harden the filling in a few seconds.
Your dentist then checks and ensures the filling’s shape and makes any necessary adjustments.
Laser Therapy
At Hollinger Dental Group, we use a few different kinds of laser wavelengths to aid in the treatment of periodontal disease.
How it works
In periodontal laser therapy, a dental laser is used as a complement therapy to the typical scaling and root planning treatment.
Our hygienists will use a diode laser to reduce the bacterial count in the pockets around the teeth and to help in the treatment of gingivial inflammation.
Our dentists will use a Waterlase hard and soft tissue laser. This laser is able to access and remove the inflamed gum tissue from around the root of the tooth.
The laser can also remove the bacteria infection in the surrounding tissue, which is one of the root causes of periodontal disease.
The laser is also effective in removing additional tartar and calculus in deep pockets, as well as preparing the tooth's surface for reattachment of the gum tissue.
With these lasers, we can directly target the diseased areas without being invasive. Patients will also experience short recovery and healing times.
